Our Swiss group Stefan arrived in Cape Town late on Friday the 4th November, arriving at the nest, Birdmen’s nest we had a few drinks , Beers and good Cape Wine, doing a briefing on the next few days, everyone relaxed and off to bed.

Saturday 5th we flew a new site in Langebaan, great dune flying, the wind was perfect, a very good play ground with crystal white sands below and the sea showing us the wind strength and direction.

Stefan and I helping some of the pilots launch to get them in the air quickly and not getting too sandy. This is a fantastic place to fly getting good air time and great view. We had a few hours of flying and playing around.

Dinner was a traditional braai but with big Fillets cooked over the coals, salads, veggies and bread, good food and wine always goes down well.

Sunday 6th Signal hill flying in Cape Town city was our first choice, on arrival, a detailed briefing and into the skies, this was a magical day, clear and being able to climb pretty high above launch looking back into the city of Cape Town and if front Sea Point, with top landing possible but one needs to be confident, with lots of spectators lurking around taking pictures.

Later on we changed sites and went to Lions Head, as the wind was too side on and picked up. Lions Head was light with doing forward launches to get off.

Ending the day after haven flown two of the most prestigious sites in Cape Town in the same day.

Monday7th flyable again we headed for Franchhoek , arriving the wind was good and soon all of the group were flying well above launch enjoying this amazing view flying over the farm and wine lands, after about an hour and half the wind suddenly picked up and we all landed, once again Lions Head was the next spot for the day also light conditions but good flying getting almost above the top.
Eating at a good fish restaurant for dinner, with good white wine to tickle our pallets.

Tuesday 8th Porterville was calling and looking the best place to be as everywhere else was strong with rain, but unfortunately the front was bigger than expected and Porterville was blown out as well, well the next bet thing to do was wine tasting, and enjoying a good light meal at Koppie Koffie restaurant in Porterville town.

We had a early Braai, this time braaing T-bone steaks, only 500grams each, it was also one for our guests Sue’s birthday, Chris baked her a birthday cake with candles and we gave her a gift lit with fire sparklers.

Wednesday 9th the front should have passed, but in the morning it was still very windy, so we changed plans and headed for Wilderness, Sedgefield. Driving on a very windy day and not to lose any more flying days.
