Dutch Group Feb 2010
February 27th, 2010 Posted in UncategorizedThursday 25th was predicted WSW, so I chose Sir Lowrys Pass to fly. Which this group had not had a chance to fly in the last 5 years. We arrive as the the wind was changing from East over the back, to up the front and becomming thermic, we had about 35minutes wait during this period we did a breifing on the site, weather and possibilities at Sir lowrys Pass. I did a test flight to see if it was possible to stay up and top landed afer a few minutes, then helping the rest of the group off in a good time. It was a good day thermic with 18 pilots enjoying the skies, after a few hours of flying we tried another site, but it was too strong, so we came home and enjoyed the sun set, with a fire burning outside, swimming and lots of beers and good SA wine.
Friday in Cape Town area was very strong SE so headed to Hermanus one and half hours drive, we left early as to miss the traffic, arriving there with no wind and very cloudy with light rain in the distance, but I was possitive it would come right.
After a coffee and a stroll at the market we headed up to take off, it was working 15km from the South, once again a breifing then one by one the pilots took to the skies, the day improved all the time and became sunny with all in the air flying along the ridge with lots of space also a French flying with us. The day turn out so good we flew all day, with some small XC flights but technical. Another good day in Paradice, sunny and warm Cape Town.
Today we enjoyed the tourist things Cape Town has to offer, as the SE picked up very quickly and strong.
